Connell Foley LLP Occupies Headquarters in Roseland Office Building Following Construction Realization by Unity
Unity Construction Services, Inc. served as the construction firm of record for the recent headquarters move to the 56 at Roseland office building for the prestigious law firm, Connell Foley. Unity was tasked with constructing the forward-thinking design of an environment that reflected the firm’s status, while integrating state-of-the-art amenities, architectural elements, fixtures and functionality. Spread out over two floors, the 70,000-sq. ft. open office space was designed to make a bold statement to Connell Foley clients and provide the utmost in convenience, quality and usability for the firm.
The 55,000-sq. ft. first floor opens onto an expansive porcelain tile floored reception area. 150 sq. ft. individual partner offices lining the perimeter feature full-height, frameless glass panels and Herculite-style doors. The main corridor, adjacent to the heart of the firm’s work area, flows into the boardroom with its Herculite-style glass doors, full height vision panels, and motorized Mega privacy shades. The first-floor design also includes several multi-purpose meeting rooms, huddle rooms, a concierge pantry and three main conference rooms.
The architect’s design called for a floating stairwell to be placed in the interior of the space to connect the first and second floors of the law offices. The demolition and construction process called for a highly engineered approach to attain the open floating staircase architecture, which is defined by frameless glass railings and a continuation of the porcelain tile flooring.
The new stairwell provides access to the expansive work café at the center of the 15,000 sq. ft. 2nd floor and features rich wood accents and a continuation of the open floor plan. The remainder of the second floor includes additional offices for the legal team and administrative workspace.
Unity’s Senior Project Manager Glenn Korman, the executive for the project explains,
“The Unity team worked closely with Connell Foley’s partners, including Phil McGovern, Managing Partner, Gensler and the rest of the project team. We were able to diligently manage the project and exceed client expectations – from conceptual design through occupancy. The sophisticated design and aggressive schedule for the project required daily interaction with our client, which enabled us to showcase our ability to build a marquee office space.”
Custom-designed with advanced amenities, services and technology for its attorneys and staff, the space also boasts a technologically-advanced onsite data center. Connelly Foley made the move after spending 30 years in their previous headquarters, just blocks away at 85 Livingston Ave. The firm also has offices in Jersey City, Newark, Cherry Hill, New York and Philadelphia.
Unity worked closely with Gensler, the architect of record, to bring the new, forward-thinking office space design into fruition. Gensler is considered one of the world’s largest and leading collaborative design firms. 56 at Roseland has become one of Northern New Jersey’s premier professional office settings which now is the home of two of the state’s Top 10 largest law firms (Connell Foley and Lowenstein Sandler LLP) as well as the state’s largest insurance brokerage Brown & Brown.
