Khairi began in construction working his father’s General Construction firm. He began as an estimator at the age of 14, performing quantity take-off’s during summer vacations. Eventually, take-offs grew into full blown estimates, and estimating developed into Project Management.
After his father closed his doors in 2013, Khairi transitioned into managing small scale projects for a General Contractor up to $6M in the public sector, and up to $20M on the owner’s side. His public sector experience covers various agencies such as NAVFAC, NYC Transit, NYSCA, and Port Authority, and PSE&G.
In 2018 Khairi made a great career decision to take a role as an assistant project manager with Hollister Construction Services due to lack of experience in the private sector, as well as the desire to gain experience in Ground-Up Construction. During his time at Hollister, Khairi managed a mixed-use development for Rutgers University reporting directly to a Project Executive. Following Hollister’s filing of Chapter 11 Bankruptcy, Khairi began to look for a new home, and found one with Unity.
